View this post on Instagram FIRST AID FOR KIDS: 👦 Nose bleeding in children is a scary sight for parents. Especially in summers, nasal cavity gets dry leading to nose picking in kids, resulting in nose bleeds. ------- In this post, am going to discuss what first aid should be done by parents/ teachers when a kid gets nose bleed. ------ 1️⃣ Firstly, the caregiver should RELAX. there's no need to panic on seeing a nose bleed 2️⃣Make the child sit upright and make the Head and body to lean SLIGHTLY FORWARD- by doing this you are preventing the blood getting down the throat. 3️⃣Use your thumb and index finger to pinch the SOFT PART of the nose👃 ( just below the bony part) continuously for TEN MINUTES 🔟 🕙 Older children can be asked to pinch the nose by themselves 4️⃣ask the child to breathe through the MOUTH. 5️⃣if an ice pack❄️ is available nearby, it can be applied over the bridge of the nose- by doing this, you are decreasing the blood supply. ******* Some DON'T s while dealing with nose bleed 🙅♀️Don't make the child lay flat 🙅♀️Don't put the head in between legs 🙅♀️Child should not blow the nose or rub his nose 🙅♀️After the bleed is over, the child should not strain or lift heavy weights --------- Even if it's your child's first nasal bleed ,always get evaluated by a doctor and don't use any OTC nasal sprays without dr's advice. #firstaid #firstaidforkids #parentingtips #parentsawareness #pediatrics A post shared by Abinaya (@dr_abi.mathan.md) on May 12, 2020 at 1:02am PDT
